quick sketch i did on the plane from sydney. i was awake for 24 hours the day before so im lucky this drawing looks alright.

1 of 3 Gary Numan editorial illustrations i did for the latest issue of black magazine http://blacklognz.blogspot.com/.

Suit made from super dense dark matter that absorbs most of the light that touches it.
“i should have guessed you would be human. no other creature could have such a self-destructive goal”

Life drawing in st kevans arcade. Im pretty sure she caught me. Its such a relief having a new sketchbook with nice paper in it.

Portrait im about to start painting for a private life painting course im doing at the moment. we have spent 12 hours on it so far. 9 hours were spent on the charcoal drawing then I inked it in and erased the drawing.
We did the poster study in the bottom left last lesson to plan colours and try to get the hues perfect.

Portrait, oil on canvas
Spent a couple of hours trying to photograph this right, colors are a bit off but i think you get the idea.

It is said that people born between christmas and the new year are children of the dead days.
They can sense when their true father is near and seek his council in twilight dreaming.

Just got an a3 scanner so here is a better scan of the portrait I did.
Oil on canvas. 15hours for the charcoal drawing and 15 hours for the paint. From life.

Self portrait Im working on at the moment. Painted from life. Using a technique that my tutor called constricted realism. Charcoal under drawing, oil paint on canvas.
I have never really tried to draw or paint myself before so this is a huge challenge for me. I have always felt that I was learning far more about the human form when I drew life rather than from photos and a self portrait seemed like the easiest way to do this.
I have tried to be extremely critical of my face while I was constructing the charcoal drawing and have tried to make it as close to reality as I can see it. I found out that my right jaw line drops slightly lower than the left, I hold my right shoulder higher than my left when I relax and the fold of skin above my eyelid seems to be smaller on my left eye. there are many more little things that i hadnt noticed before especially in subtle hue changes for regions of my face but i wont boor you with the details.
More coming soon. Enjoy.
